Twitter and Your Marketing

March 30th, 2010 | No Comments | Posted in Online Business, Promotion and Marketing

So what’s the deal with this Twitter? Do you really have to ask, where have you been? Twitter is probably one of the fastest growing websites on the web today. It is breaking new ground, and increasing users at a very fast clip. If you have to ask what this thing called Twitter is, you, more than anyone, have to read this and get on board!

Twitter is basically a small blogging site. You only have 140 characters for each tweet. This may seem too small at first, but you can really pack a lot of info into 140 characters. Even more to your advantage, though, is users are more apt to read those 140 characters than they are to read a full email. As you become more comfortable working with the 140 character limit, it will become amazing what you can fit into that small space.

Twitter is much more, though, than just the access to post daily ideas. It is becoming a great marketing boom for individuals who know how to tap into the power of Twitter. There are numerous Twitter marketing tools around the internet, allowing you to build a following fast.

The whole key to Twitter is the ability to grow a following of incredibly targeted individuals. It is a virtual email list, but an email list that you can market to 5, 10 or 20 times a day. Imagine that, how many marketing sources are out there that will allow you to get your advertisement in front of a incredibly targeted audience 10 or 20 times a day? Well, there are a few, but how many are completely free?

The incredible upside to Twitter is that as you increase this following of very targeted followers, you begin building your own brand. You can build a reputation with these people, and they will always be there to get your Tweet. Very powerful stuff.

If you are just getting started on Twitter, one thing you will want to do is grow your followers. For those getting started, this can be difficult and frustrating. There are a number of pretty low cost articles on how to get Twitter followers, but what I would suggest is some of the software on the market to help you manage the process.

There are many sites out there pushing “follower trains”, like a link exchange but for Twitter. You will get followers fast, but they are not quality followers. They are not targeted, and most are marketers just looking to grow their own followers. Your marketing is only as good as your list, grow it right is my suggestion.
